Processional Information

The Inauguration Ceremony will take place Thursday, October 27, 2022, at 4:30 p.m. in the Tri-Court of the Sports and Recreation Center on South Campus of the Lake Forest College campus. Doors open at 3:30 p.m.

Planning for your arrival

  • Please plan to arrive at the Sports and Recreation Center by 3:45 p.m.*
    Since many Lake Forest College faculty teach on Thursdays from 2:30–3:50 p.m., please do your best to arrive for the lineup by 4:10 p.m.
  • Upon arrival, please check in and report to your designated lineup area.
  • Restrooms and light refreshments will be available.
  • We suggest that delegates either refrain from bringing personal belongings or plan to carry them with you in the procession.
  • Please wear professional shoes that are comfortable for processing.

Attire and Robing Information for:

Alumni Council and Parents Council Delegates
  • Alumni Council and Parents Council Delegates will march in business professional attire.
  • A touch of red is encouraged.
Board of Trustees, Senior Leadership Team, and Platform Party
  • Lake Forest College Board of Trustees, Senior Leadership Team, and members of the Platform Party will march in the regalia representing the highest academic degree you have earned.
  • If you have your own academic regalia, please bring it with you on Thursday afternoon.
  • If you do not have regalia, the College will provide it for all those who place their order by Wednesday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m. Orders submitted after that date will not be filled.
College/University Delegates and Higher Education Associations
  • All college/university and higher education association delegates are kindly asked to furnish their own academic regalia.
  • If you do not have regalia, please contact your host institution about providing you with the necessary academic regalia.
Faculty Delegates
  • Lake Forest College Faculty will march in the regalia representing the highest academic degree you have earned.
  • If you have your own academic regalia, please bring it with you on Thursday afternoon.
  • If you do not have regalia, the College will provide it for all those who place their order by Wednesday, September 28 at 5:00 p.m. Orders submitted after that date will not be filled.
  • The Dean of the Faculty Office will communicate the schedule for picking up rented regalia.
Staff Delegates
  • Staff Delegates will march in business professional attire.
  • A touch of red is encouraged.
Student Delegates
  • Lake Forest College Student Delegates will march in business professional attire.
  • A touch of red is encouraged. 

Lineup

Lake Forest College volunteers/marshals will assist and provide details about the order of the procession.

  • Student flag bearers will line up in alphabetical order by nation or US territory.
  • Student delegates will line up in alphabetical order by last name.
  • Staff delegates will line up in alphabetical order by last name.
  • Alumni and Parents Council delegates will line up in class order.
  • College/university and higher education delegates will line up according to the year of the institution’s founding.
  • Faculty members will line up according to years of service to the College.
  • The Board of Trustees and the platform party will follow.

Processional

  • The Inauguration Procession is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. 
  • Each group of delegates will have at least one marshal who will lead you to the appropriate seating area for the Inauguration Ceremony.

Inauguration Ceremony

  • The Inauguration Ceremony will begin immediately following the processional.
  • Processional delegates will participate in the recessional at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Inauguration Reception

  • Following the ceremony, Lake Forest College invites you to join us for the Inauguration Reception located in the Varsity Gym in the Sports and Recreation Center.
  • The celebration will include refreshments and the opportunity to meet President Baren and members of our extended campus community.
