Study Abroad and Domestic Study Away

Participating in a study abroad program, whether to study, intern, research or volunteer, can be a life-changing experience. At Lake Forest College, we understand that our students have individual learning goals, which is why we have such a robust set of approved study abroad and domestic study away programs — over 250 options in 70 countries! (And this is just our semester options!)

GEO Applications 

The GEO (Global Engagement Office) Application is Lake Forest College's internal study abroad application.

Students must submit a GEO Application (and the application must be approved by the Global Engagement Office) before they can start a program-specific application.

GEO Applications for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Spring 2027 are open as of August 1.

GEO Applications are located on the Study Abroad Portal system.

Deadlines for GEO Applications:

  • December 1 - Fall programs 
    • No late applications accepted
  • April 1 - Spring programs
    • No late applications accepted
  • March 1 - Summer programs
    • Late summer applications can be accepted on a case-by-case basis
