Career Advancement

Make your future with career preparation

Lake Forest College students don't have to choose practicality over passion; they understand that embracing both makes for well-rounded people, confident graduates, and the strongest job candidates. Through our nationally-recognized Career Pathways program, the Gorter Family Career Advancement Center empowers students with essential skills, experiences, and networks that will help them pursue meaningful careers.

Best of Both Worlds: Chicago

Our location just 30 miles north of one of the greatest cities in the world—Chicago—provides unparalleled access to top internships and career opportunities. Chicago is home to over 400 major corporate headquarters (including 36 in the Fortune 500), countless museums, theaters, consulates, and more.

Explore Chicago Connections

We help our students gain the skills and experiences they need to pursue their passions. Through the CAC, students can access these resources and more:

  • Schedule 30-minute appointments to meet with a career advisor virtually or in-person on the second floor of Brown Hall
  • Drop-in at Career Express Advising Mondays-Thursdays in the student center from 11a.m.-1p.m., no appointment required
  • Reserve an interview room in Brown Hall by emailing careers@lakeforest.edu
  • Get a professional photo taken and browse free professional clothing at the Forester Career Closet, open Fridays 1-3p.m. in Roberts Hall 100 or by appointment

Our Gorter Family Career Advancement Center in newly-renovated Brown Hall honors a generous donation ensuring the strength of our career preparation for years to come.

The education students receive at Lake Forest College sets them apart as competitive candidates with writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills.

At Lake Forest all students are required to apply their liberal arts skills by completing an experiential learning opportunity, such as an internship or summer fellowship.

Lake Forest has been recognized for its institutional focus on career preparation by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
