Laboratory Supervisor (Part Time)
Lake Forest College is seeking a part-time Laboratory Supervisor in the Department of Physics.
Job Responsibilities:
- Set up instructional laboratory experiments
- Organize and maintain the department stockroom of demonstrations
- Order and repair laboratory equipment and supplies
- Update and maintain the department website
- Supervise student workers
- Administrative tasks such as processing reimbursement requests and invoices, reconciling credit card statements, and ordering office supplies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Background or course work in physics or other laboratory science.
- An Associate’s degree.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, plus an aptitude and willingness to learn new computer-related skills.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness to take initiative and follow through on projects.
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with students, staff, and faculty.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Experience in a physics laboratory environment is desirable.
- Previous administrative experience.
- Previous business experience a plus.
This appointment is 20 hours per week during the academic year, mid-August to mid-May, with time off for holidays and College breaks. Anticipated hours are Monday through Friday 10 am to 2 pm, but we are open to discussion.
Pay rate: $20-$22/hour
