The Senior Seminar class spent their final class at the home of one of the most important sites for biodiversity in northeastern Illinois — Middlefork Savanna near Lake Forest College. Once part of a large glacial lake, the rare tallgrass savanna not only provides a safe harbor for endangered plant and wildlife species, but several environmentally sensitive wetlands that feed into the North Branch of the Chicago River.
