Department Assistant (Part Time)

Lake Forest College seeks a part-time department assistant to provide administrative support to faculty in an academic building on campus.

 Job Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day office administration and support to include but not limited to, greeting visitors, scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, etc. 
  • Updating the website
  • Processing reimbursements
  • Planning meetings and special events
  • Gathering data
  • Filing and data management

 Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree
  • Proven administrative experience.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills and multitasking ability
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, plus an aptitude and willingness to learn new software and systems.
  • Ability to track budgets and expenses.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to take initiative and follow through on projects.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with students, staff and faculty from diverse backgrounds. 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. 
  • Experience with project management.
  • Comfortable handling confidential information

There are three positions available during the academic year (late-August to mid-May with time off for holidays and College breaks):

  1. 30 hours per week in Brown Hall
  2. 20 hours per week in Buchannan Hall
  3. 20 hours per week in the Office of Academic Affairs

Salary & Benefits

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
