The Stentor, the College’s long-running student newspaper, was named to the Best of Show short list by the Associated Collegiate Press during the 2021 Spring National College Media Convention.

The 12-page winning issue earned the sixth spot in the less-than-weekly newspaper at a four-year campus category during the March Best of Show competition.

“The entire editorial board and staff of the Stentor are incredibly grateful to receive this award, our first recognition in several years,” said Editor-in-Chief Emma Overton ’21.

The winning issue, published on February 19, 2021, included articles focused on the reopening of campus and return to athletic competition; coverage of “The Neuroscience of Racial Bias” talk; album, book, and streaming platform reviews; professor and student spotlights; and opinion pieces on the Uighur genocide, Black History Month, and the 17th Amendment’s interference of impeachment.

“Although our newsroom is scattered across the country, everyone has worked very hard to continue the publication and return to print publication this semester. Receiving an ACP Best of Show award is further confirmation of our commitment to producing the very best newspaper for the campus community and furthering the legacy of the Stentor,” Overton said.

The Stentor was first published during the 1886-87 academic year and continues to serve as the students’ journal of record.
