Monika Gago '24, an education and communication double major, is studying abroad this semester at the American College of Greece.

I am currently studying abroad in Athens, Greece at the American College of Greece. Studying in a foreign country has been nothing short of incredible. Every day is a new adventure filled with learning, growth, and personal development. The opportunity to live and study in a new culture has been eye-opening, and it has opened doors to experiences and insights I could have never imagined. Adjusting to a new culture was initially challenging, but it taught me resilience and adaptability. I've learned to appreciate the beauty of differences and have grown more open-minded. My personal growth involves overcoming language barriers and learning to communicate effectively in a foreign environment. It's a journey of self-discovery and self-confidence. One element of the program that has had a profound impact on me is the emphasis on cultural exchange and community engagement. It has allowed me to become a global citizen, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the world.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of this journey has been the opportunity to engage with a diverse group of students and professors. The academic environment here is both stimulating and enriching. I've been exposed to fresh perspectives and ideas, expanding my intellectual horizons in ways I never thought possible. The global perspective I'm gaining is invaluable and will undoubtedly shape my future. I have had the privilege of exploring different parts of Greece, such as Corfu, Nafplion, Mykonos, and Zakynthos, each place leaving an indelible mark on my heart. The experiences and knowledge I have gained from this adventure are priceless. I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to express my heartfelt gratitude for being awarded the Dan Cole Scholar with the Demertzis Prize, as well as receiving the George L. Speros Scholarship. Your generosity and belief in my potential have made my study abroad trip possible, and I am incredibly grateful for your support.
