Economics can be broadly defined as the study of how people and institutions allocate scarce resources. Economics helps us to understand historical trends, interpret today’s headlines, and predict future trends.
The Department of Economics, Business, and Finance offers majors and minors in all three areas.
The major in economics is a strong, traditional program with a reputation for rigor, depth, and breadth.
The business major is structured to provide an overview of various business operations, including accounting, finance, and marketing, along with important background in economics and statistics. Students can choose elective courses from a variety of areas, or they can choose to do a concentration in either accounting or marketing.
