We aim to cultivate a campus culture where equity, belonging, and well-being are deeply embedded in the student, faculty, and staff experience at Lake Forest College through the activities and programs of our newly established Office for Community, Advocacy, Resources, and Empowerment (CARE). Our approach builds on prior work to support all within the Forester community and, where needed, provides specialized services to those with marginalized identities. Our College mission states “We value cultural diversity”, and we must uphold that value with greater institutional focus, resources, and systems.
CARE is a space of support, connection, and transformation—where community is nurtured, advocacy is amplified, and every individual is encouraged to bring their full self to campus life. With a commitment to dialogue, collaboration, and justice-informed practice, CARE creates opportunities for meaningful engagement across differences.
To assist us in achieving these goals, we’ve created a President’s Council for CARE which serves as a strategic advisory body to the President and College Council, guiding campus-wide efforts related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging while supporting the Office for CARE.
The President’s Council for CARE includes faculty appointed by our three governance groups: FPPC (Faculty Personnel Policies Committee), Staff Governance Committee, and Student Government. The council meets regularly, minutes will be provided to the entire campus, and any work products will be posted here. Please continue to check back for updates.
