FAQs for Keystone Projects & FFC-EL Requirements

1. Does my 1.0 credit research project satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
  • If your research project was (a) for 1.0 credit, (b) linked to health or medicine, and (c) ended with a written reflection, then yes!
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).
  • To satisfy the FFC-EL, you will need to complete the procedures in either 1e or 1f on the FFC-EL FAQ page (which will require you to paste that same written reflection into the form).
2. Does my 150+ hour non-credit research project satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
  • If your research project was (a) for 150 hours, (b) linked to health or medicine, and (c) ended with a written reflection, then yes!
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).
  • To satisfy the FFC-EL, you will need to complete the procedures in either 2a or 2b on the FFC-EL FAQ page (which will require you to paste that same written reflection into the form).
3. Does my 1.0-credit internship satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
  • If your internship was (a) for 1.0 LFC credits, (b) run through the CAC, (c) linked to health or medicine, and (d) ended with a written reflection, then yes!
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).

  • If your internship was (a) for 150+ hours, (b) linked to health or medicine, and (c) ended with a written reflection, then yes!
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).

5. Does my healthcare professional shadowing satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
  • Typically, no!
  • The Keystone requires 40 hours of shadowing, but the FFC-EL requires that the experience(s) meet at least the 150-hour threshold.
  • However, you might be able to combine these 40 hours of shadowing with another experience (an additional 110 hours, so that the grand total of experiences is 150 hours).
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).
  • To satisfy the FFC-EL with a combination of experiences (total of 150 hours), you will need to complete the procedures in either 2a or 2b on the FFC-EL FAQ page (which requires a written reflection that includes all combined experiences).
6. Does my class-based research project satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
7. Does my self-designed project satisfy both the Keystone and FFC-EL?
  • Typically, no!
  • The Keystone requires 80 hours (or 0.5 LFC credits), but the FFC-EL requires that the experience(s) meet at least the 150-hour (or 1.0 credit) threshold.
  • That said, you might be able to combine these 80 hours (0.5 credits) with another experience (an additional 70 hours (or 0.5 credits), so that the grant total of experiences is 150 hours (or 1.0 credit).
  • To satisfy the Keystone Project, you will need to (a) review the HPP Keystone Project Completion Guide and (b) complete the HPP Keystone Completion Form (which includes the written reflection).
  • To satisfy the FFC-EL with a combination of experiences (total of 150 hours or 1.0 credits), you will need to complete the procedures in either 2a or 2b on the FFC-EL FAQ page (which requires a written reflection that includes all combined experiences).
