Patricia Buenrostro
As part of the Education Department's Anti-Racism Initiative, Patricia Buenrostro will lead a collaborative project with the Metropolitan Planning Council (MPC) to provide expert support on The Cost of Segregation Curriculum, a curriculum developed by MPC to engage youth and educators on the issues of racial and social (in)justice related to segregation. Dr. Buenrostro will support the council in dissemination activities that will likely include soliciting support from youth, parents, and educators to provide feedback and develop facilitation guides to be piloted by educators within the Chicago metro area. Dr. Buenrostro's research includes supporting teacher engagement with critical and justice-oriented pedagogies and creating counter-cultural educative spaces that support students' positive social, academic, and political identities.
