Piano faculty member and President of the Society of American Musicians Dr. Soo Young Lee has been named to the Steinway & Sons Music Teacher Hall of Fame, a distinction reserved for North America’s most dedicated and inspiring piano educators.

She was formally inducted this fall during ceremonies at Steinway’s historic factory in Queens, New York.

Lee joins a cohort of 66 teachers from the United States and Canada honored in the 2025 class. Selected through the Steinway Teacher & Educational Partner Program (STEP), inductees are nominated by their regional Steinway showroom in recognition of exceptional instruction, leadership in acoustic piano education, and more than a decade of service to their teaching communities. Each honoree’s name is now displayed on a commemorative wall inside the iconic Steinway factory.

The induction events, held October 21–22 at the LaGuardia Marriott Hotel and the Steinway Factory, brought together distinguished educators celebrated for their artistry, mentorship, and impact on generations of young musicians.

“This recognition celebrates the values we share as educators—nurturing young musicians, fostering artistic growth, and building a lifelong love of music,” Lee said. “I am truly grateful to be part of such a supportive and inspiring community at Lake Forest College, where I continue to grow as both a teacher and artist.”
