New students inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society

The Lake Forest College Chapter of Omicron Delta Kappa, the National Leadership Honor Society, inducted 26 new members on Monday, January 31 during a ceremony in Calvin Durand Hall.

Omicron Delta Kappa recognizes and encourages superior leadership and exemplary character while encouraging collaboration through five pillars of leadership: academics, athletics, service, communications, and arts. Lake Forest College is home to one of 300 Omicron Delta Kappa circles nationwide.

Tuesday night’s induction ceremony was opened by Farhan Ahmed ’24, Lake Forest College Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa Vice President. The benediction was given by the College’s Circle Membership Selection and Initiation Chair Jhanati Rajesh ’23, and Demetra Tsakos ’24 Lake Forest College Circle President gave the invocation and closing remarks.

Initiates receive the Laurel Crown Circle, the honor society’s symbol of achievement, upon their introduction.

The Omicron Delta Kappa honor society was founded in 1914 at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. The organization was formed to honor students who attain a high standard of collegiate activities. The Lake Forest College chapter was officially charted in April of 2014.
