Dani Robles ’19 and band CalicoLoco making news

Dani Robles ’19 and their band, CalicoLoco, are featured in a Daily Herald article as the indie-pop group’s newest single drops.

Robles is the lead vocalist and songwriter in the group whose newest single, Church Trauma Song, was released in early October. 

A double-major in music and English with a writing emphasis, Robles participated in the College’s signature Richter Scholar program and the College’s Jazz Ensemble. Robles was awarded the Heath Prize in Music.

“When I arrived at Lake Forest, I had no idea I was going to make a career out of music but the College gave me so many opportunities to explore different interests,” Robles said. 

As a Richter Scholar the summer after their first year, Robles wrote the musical score for the 1921 silent film “Seven Years Bad Luck” under the mentorship of Professor of Music Don Meyer. Robles’ score that was performed live by the Lake Forest College Orchestra at a public screening of the movie the following fall.

“When I had the chance to work on that musical project for the Richter Scholar program with Dr. Meyer, I never looked back,” Robles admits.

After graduating from Lake Forest College, Robles went on to earn a master of arts in sound arts and industries at Northwestern University.
