Rutuja Bhoite '23, a double major in international relations and economics, is studying abroad at the University of Chester in Chester, England.

Hello, I am Rutuja Bhoite, and currently doing a study-abroad semester at University of Chester in the UK. It been almost a month since I have arrived in Chester, and it has been overwhelming.

Chester is a very beautiful city with so much history to it. Walking along the Chester City Walls I was able to see the Chester Castle, and one of the oldest Cathedral was very much fun. There is not just one favorite memory to recount in the past month as I have had multiple instances of astonishment and fun. I have been enjoying all the classes, but it’s difficult to get used to the education system here.

The first week here was fun as I was able to go around Chester with my new friends and do a 5-hour hike to Moel Famua in Wales. It was worthwhile to walk up the mountain because the view from the top was incredibly beautiful. I also went to Manchester and visited the Manchester Cathedral, an art museum, and an ancient library. Going to different places and seeing the art has been fascinating, and I have been learning more about English culture.

Last week all the ISEP students along with our advisor went to a roller-skating rink. Initially, I was very nervous because this was the first time for me. While wearing the roller skates I was scared thinking if I will fall on the rink. However, I was able to make one round of the rink with the help of my advisor. It was fun even when every time I moved, I felt I will fall.

I can’t wait to travel around the UK and create more fun memories.
