NETHERLANDS - ISEP TIO University of Applied Sciences

The Netherlands is the perfect place to start your international career since the Netherlands is (and always has been) the trading center of the World. Dutch people are known for their spirit of commerce, open-mindedness towards people from different countries, international ambitions and innovative ways of thinking.

Tio University of Applied Sciences offers small-scale and high-quality education with challenging curricula and appealing projects, making it a great place for Dutch and international students to study.

Tio is one of the most prestigious universities of applied sciences in The Netherlands. Satisfied students and the quality of education are key elements. Tio is very proud of the fact that in addition to the highest scores Tio received in the National student survey (NSE) and the Elsevier Enquiry Best study courses 2015, Tio has also been pronounced the best university of applied sciences (small size) in the Netherlands by the 2016 Higher Education Guide.

Location

Tio Amsterdam is the largest of the Tio locations, but with 600 students, it retains its intimacy. A sociable, modern location with a smattering of Amsterdam Bravoure and an international and progressive character. Amsterdam is by far the perfect city where hospitality, event management, tourism, and business come together.  It is a metropolis with an abundance of bustling little streets and nightlife.

The international character and the many activities which take place at the location ensure that there is always something to do at Tio Utrecht campus. This location is centrally located and the reason is obvious: students from across the Netherlands and far beyond finding their way to Tio Utrecht.

Utrecht has the highest percentage of students of all cities in the Netherlands. In addition, Utrecht has the most well-educated population of the four largest cities in the Netherlands. The well-known Dom Tower – the tallest church tower in the Netherlands at 112 meters – is located in the historic city center, as is a vast range of cafes and restaurants.

Academics

Tio is one of the most prestigious universities of applied sciences in The Netherlands. Satisfied students and the quality of education are key elements. Tio is very proud of the fact that in addition to the highest scores Tio received in the National student survey (NSE) and the Elsevier Enquiry Best study courses 2015, Tio has also been the pronounced best university of applied sciences (small size) in the Netherlands by the 2016 Higher Education Guide.

The education at Tio is small-scale, personal and interactive, and lecturers know you by name. When weighted in the 2014-2015 academic year, the average number of students across the whole of Tio was 11 per classroom. This enables active participation in the lectures, for example by taking part in role-playing games and discussions. Projects are an important part of the bachelor courses. You may be able to visit events, run a hotel with fellow students, organize a trip or manage an investment portfolio.

During your study period at Tio, you have the possibility to choose courses from different subject areas. To make your choice even more convenient, they have set up modules with courses, matching the different study areas. All courses and subjects are taught by professionals from the industry, working within the hospitality- of the tourism industry on a day to day basis.

Students can select courses from one of the following modules:

  • Hospitality management
  • International tourism
  • International Business 1
  • International Business 2
  • Financial management
  • Digital marketing
  • Finance and digital marketing
