Visiting Assistant Professor of Religion

The Department of Religion at Lake Forest College invites applications for a one-year visiting assistant professor position with a demonstrated ability to teach comparative topics such as religion and the environment, religion and popular culture, religion and science, religion and food, and/or comparative religious ethics. The ability to teach either in the field of Indigenous Religions or in Christianity is preferred. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence in a liberal arts setting. The successful candidate will teach six courses, most at the introductory level, but at least one upper-level seminar for majors and minors.

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Religious Studies (an ABD is acceptable if degree is conferred prior to the start of the 2026-27 academic year).
  • Ability to teach religious studies courses as indicated above.
  • Commitment to preparing students with critical thinking, communication, and global competency skills for today’s dynamic, interconnected world.
