Human Resources Manager

Lake Forest College, one of the top liberal arts schools in the Midwest, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to administer day-to-day human resources functions as well as advise on related issues. The successful candidate will be a versatile HR generalist, adept at handling multiple areas of HR, collaborating with campus stakeholders, and supporting strategic HR initiatives.

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Develop job descriptions and postings with supervisors, identify targeted recruitment sources, and post jobs.
  • Implement and manage Recruitment module in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Create and conduct formal onboarding program with HR Generalist.

Benefits Administration

  • Administer benefits programs, including compliance and audit responsibilities.
  • Execute annual open enrollment process in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Manage time off programs, FMLA, accommodations, and Worker’s Compensation.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors on HR policies and procedures.
  • Work with supervisors on employee coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
  • Partner on interdepartmental projects to support employees.

Data Management

  • Ensure accuracy of data in ADP Workforce Now.
  • Collect and analyze HR data and metrics; prepare reports for internal stakeholders and external entities.

Other

  • Manage performance evaluation process for staff employees.
  • Review and approve payroll with Finance team.
  • Research compliance-related issues and recommend changes.
  • Provide training to managers on HR topics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience
  • 3 years of related HR generalist experience required with strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions and use good judgment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple shifting priorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
  • 5 or more years of related HR experience
  • Experience working in a college or nonprofit setting
  • Familiarity with immigration processes helpful
  • SHRM or HRCI certification
  • Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours

    Salary and Benefits

    Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
