Human Resources Manager
Lake Forest College, one of the top liberal arts schools in the Midwest, is seeking a Human Resources Manager to administer day-to-day human resources functions as well as advise on related issues. The successful candidate will be a versatile HR generalist, adept at handling multiple areas of HR, collaborating with campus stakeholders, and supporting strategic HR initiatives.
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Develop job descriptions and postings with supervisors, identify targeted recruitment sources, and post jobs.
- Implement and manage Recruitment module in ADP Workforce Now.
- Create and conduct formal onboarding program with HR Generalist.
Benefits Administration
- Administer benefits programs, including compliance and audit responsibilities.
- Execute annual open enrollment process in ADP Workforce Now.
- Manage time off programs, FMLA, accommodations, and Worker’s Compensation.
Employee Relations
- Serve as a resource for employees and supervisors on HR policies and procedures.
- Work with supervisors on employee coaching, discipline, performance improvement plans, and terminations.
- Partner on interdepartmental projects to support employees.
Data Management
- Ensure accuracy of data in ADP Workforce Now.
- Collect and analyze HR data and metrics; prepare reports for internal stakeholders and external entities.
Other
- Manage performance evaluation process for staff employees.
- Review and approve payroll with Finance team.
- Research compliance-related issues and recommend changes.
- Provide training to managers on HR topics.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related area or equivalent experience
- 3 years of related HR generalist experience required with strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices
- Proficiency with HRIS systems
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Ability to make appropriate decisions and use good judgment
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple shifting priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
- 5 or more years of related HR experience
- Experience working in a college or nonprofit setting
- Familiarity with immigration processes helpful
- SHRM or HRCI certification
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours
Salary and Benefits
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000
