Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach (Part Time)

Lake Forest College is accepting applications for a part time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach. The Assistant Strength and Conditioning position will be responsible for assisting the College’s Head Strength and Conditioning coach in establishing and maintaining strength and conditioning programs for the College’s 28 varsity sports, as well as overseeing the 9,500 sq. ft. Wes Dixon Weight Room, student staff, equipment, scheduling, and campus-wide fitness programming.

Responsibilities: This position, under the supervision of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach, will provide opportunities and responsibilities in the areas of strength and conditioning coordination that include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the design and implement strength and conditioning programs for 28 varsity intercollegiate programs for pre-season, in-season, and off-season periods. Provide instruction to student-athletes during strength and conditioning training sessions.
  • Work collaboratively with sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured athletes.
  • Develop systems for tracking athlete development and progress in conjunction with sport coaches.
  • Serve as a member of the campus “Forester Fitness” team to coordinate strength and conditioning/fitness-related programming and instructors. Provide instruction for physical education programming as needed.
  • Provide nutrition counseling or education as needed to student-athletes looking to enhance sports performance.
  • Ensure that equipment and exercises follow best practices for safety.
  • Abide by and comply with National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and other league, department, and college rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the College and Athletic Department by performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience coaching at the collegiate level.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit qualified student athletes in a non-scholarship environment.
  • Current and ongoing certification through either NSCA (CSCS), CSCCa (SCCC/MSCC), or USA Weightlifting (USAW-Level I+).
  • Current standard first aid, CPR, and AED certification.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Possess proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

 

Salary and benefits: This is a part-time position. The salary is $20,000.
