Assistant Professor of Economics Linh Pham and Internship Specialist Albert Greene brought 16 Lake Forest College students to the annual Invest For Kids conference hosted in Chicago on October 24.

The conference brings top investment managers together to share their market views and best investable ideas. The students benefitted from the professional perspectives of the investment managers and improved their own financial literacy.

The program featured talks from prominent leaders in finance who shared their perspectives on the markets and investment philosophy.

“Our Lake Forest College students are fortunate to be able to participate in finance related educational and skill building opportunities in Chicago and New York as well as virtually,” said Senior Associate Director of the Gorter Family Career Advancement Center and Business, Finance, and Data Science Career Pathway Leader Marie Josephitis. “Recently, a generous donor provided students with an opportunity to participate in the Invest for Kids annual investment conference in Chicago. The students were able to apply what they are learning in the classroom as well as network with industry leaders.”

Proceeds from the conference fund not-for-profit organizations serving Chicago-area youth from disadvantaged communities. Invest For Kids has donated more than $20 million to over 85 high-performing organizations since 2009.

Between lectures, there was free time for students to approach and talk to the professionals who were also attending the event. Valuable networking connections such as these help further a student's professional development.
