Why did you choose to attend Lake Forest College?
Of all my campus visits, I felt as though I received the most comprehensive glimpse into campus life at Lake Forest. My interactions never felt as though I was on the receiving end of a sales pitch and everyone expressed a genuine interest in who I am as a person. Lake Forest has experience in supporting transfer students. It became obvious during my selection process that Lake Forest has thought extensively about the transfer population and our unique needs in ways that many schools have not. That speaks to the benefits of having a small, close-knit campus community.

What was the deciding factor that sold you on attending Lake Forest?
The authenticity was the ultimate selling point. I had the adventure of making my final decision at the start of the pandemic, amid much uncertainty. The contacts I made within the Lake Forest community were beyond accessible to talk through every question and hypothetical that came to mind. I even received regular check ins, just to see how my family and I were doing. I really appreciated that personal touch. Their holistic approach shows that prospective students are so much more than boxes to be checked off.

Do you feel welcome as a transfer student at Lake Forest?
I was surprised at how quickly I was able to begin making connections with other students, faculty, and staff. The majority of my interactions have been virtual but they have been meaningful and intentional. I am excited for the day we can all be together in person.

What do you like best about Lake Forest College?
I have been fortunate to have wonderful professors. When they tell you they are there to help you succeed, they genuinely mean that. Any guidance or advice you may need is easily accessible and your professors are there to point you in the right direction.

Do you have a favorite spot on campus?
Not yet, but I predict I will be spending a lot of time in the library once we're back on campus.

What advice would you give to a student considering transferring to Lake Forest?
Ask all of your questions, even the ones you may not think are important. The admissions office is not your only resource but they are your first resource. Speak with professors and students, get a feel for the expectations and culture and see if it is the right fit for you. You have a unique opportunity to begin building relationships that isn't possible with larger schools. Some of my closest friendships began before I even enrolled!
