What do you think of the College’s new website design?

December 08, 2013

The members of the College’s Web Advisory Group have worked this fall to incorporate your helpful ideas and feedback into a new website design that can showcase the College in a new and appealing way to our primary audiences: prospective students and their parents. Take a look, and let us know what you think. The plan is to go live sometime in January.

Homepage Design

Below is the new homepage. The top design features a focal-point photo at the top and rotating “ACCESS” stories that reinforce the brand: that Lake Forest offers students unparalleled access to top academics, research and internship experiences, and alumni who help them succeed.

Below the splash photo is the primary navigation space that is anchored in the middle by a more prominent Daily Click feature. We’ll continue using this space to tell stories in photos and video – Daily Flick, anyone?  We’ll also feature profiles of recent alumni and their academic and professional careers. Note the primary links across the top (About Us, Academics, Admissions, and so on) will be able to be seen regardless of what device is being used to see the website in.

This homepage features study abroad. Below it are homepage examples that feature other key Access messages.

This front page highlights access to speakers.

This homepage features access to research.

Top level landing page design

Here’s what a top level landing page will look like (the top level landing pages include About Us, Academics, Admissions, Student Life, Athletics, Chicago, Careers, and Giving). We started with the About Us webpage. It continues to feature our new design shapes and features Access stories about faculty and research.

Inside page design

Here’s what a regular page further inside the website will look like:
