Lebanese author Accad and Parisian artist Loubet visit Lake Forest College

University of IL Professor Emerita Dr. Evelyne Accad, noted Lebanese author and activist, along with Monique Loubet, Parisian visual artist, visited Lake Forest College in March 2019 and discussed their work and French and Lebanese contemporary issues in three French classes (FREN112 Beginning French II, FREN308 Contemporary France and FREN212 Advanced Intermediate French, pictured) with French professors Cynthia Hahn and Tessa Sermet, as well as Prof. Sanaa Rahman’s ARBC112 Beginning Arabic II class, also pictured, and one English class, “Women Writing Women” (Prof. Tracy McCabe) to discuss Loubet and Hahn’s joint bilingual, illustrated book of poetry Co-ïncidences. Accad and Hahn also presented the Lebanese film, “The Insult” to students of French, Arabic, Religion, Economics and Legal Studies, preceded by a Lebanese dinner sponsored by the Living Learning Community of Cleveland Young. Accad and Loubet’s visit was also sponsored by the Depts. of Modern Languages and Literatures, English, Religion and the Mojekwu Fund for Intercultural Understanding.
