Courtney Joseph joins podcast on early settlement in Chicago

Assistant Professor of History and African American Studies Courtney Joseph took part in episode 8 of the Windy City Historian Podcast, a group of Chicago historians sharing the city’s long history with others.
Joseph, born and raised in Chicago, was a guest on the Windy City Podcast and joined by historian John Swenson to discuss Chicago’s earliest permanent settler to the area, Jean Baptiste Point de Sable, a trader, farmer, man of color, and Chicago’s first founder.
According to the podcast, Point de Sable’s credit has been long swept under the rug while John Kinzie has been cited as being the city’s founder. Joseph joined the Windy City Historians to set the record straight.
