Associate Director for Community, Advocacy, Resources, and Empowerment (CARE)

The Associate Director for Community, Advocacy, Resources, and Empowerment (CARE) is a full-time, 12-month, in-person position reporting to the Associate Vice President for CARE. This campus-wide role focuses on developing, coordinating, and implementing inclusive programming that fosters a culture of belonging, support, and community across all members of the College — students, faculty, and staff. The Associate Director also manages the scheduling and use of CARE facilities to ensure accessibility and alignment with CARE’s mission.  

Key Responsibilities 

Campus-Wide Programming and Engagement 

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement inclusive, mission-aligned campus-wide programs, events, and initiatives that celebrate and integrate the College’s community values while fostering intercultural engagement and belonging. 
  • Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to create programming that supports the College’s CARE goals while also providing individual and group support for individuals with marginalized identities, including but not limited to Black, Indigenous and People of Color, first generation, LGBTQ+, undocumented, and international community members. 
  • Ensure that events reflect a balance of student, faculty, and staff participation and diverse perspectives. 
  • Serve as the lead coordinator for signature campus-wide CARE initiatives, including heritage month initiatives and annual CARE events, ensuring programs are aligned with institutional values and campus-wide themes. 
  • Support campus-wide CARE initiatives, including restorative practices and community dialogues. 
  • Provide training, guidance, and program planning support to empowerment groups, affinity groups, and other campus department or organization group members. 

Facility and Resource Management 

  • Manage CARE space reservations, ensuring that facility use aligns with the mission of CARE and is accessible to the campus community. 
  • Maintain an efficient scheduling and communication system for CARE space utilization. 
  • Coordinate with Facilities Management, Campus Life, and other departments to ensure appropriate set-up and support for CARE-sponsored activities. 

Community Support and Collaboration 

  • Serve as a liaison to the President’s Council on CARE, the CARE Team, campus departments, and governance groups to support CARE-related initiatives and partnerships. 
  • Partner with Accessibility Services and other campus offices to ensure programs and events are inclusive and accessible. 
  • Assist in the development of resources that promote a welcoming environment for all campus members, including historically underrepresented groups. 

Assessment and Continuous Improvement 

  • Support the evaluation of CARE programs and services through data collection, surveys, and feedback mechanisms. 
  • Assist in analyzing assessment data to inform continuous improvement of CARE initiatives and campus community engagement efforts. 

Additional Duties 

  • Serve on relevant College committees as assigned. 
  • Support CARE communication efforts, including promotion of events and initiatives. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Vice President for CARE.  

Required Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; Master’s degree in related area (higher education administration, student affairs, counseling, social work, etc.) preferred. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience preferably in a college or university setting, and preferably in diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, or community development work. 
  • Experience developing, managing, conducting, and assessing large-scale training, programming, and campus events. 
  • Strong organizational, project management, facilitation, and communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering inclusive, welcoming environments for diverse campus populations. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and senior leadership. 
  • Flexibility and creativity in problem-solving and program development. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience managing campus facilities or scheduling systems. 
  • Experience supporting cross-constituency (student, faculty, staff) programming efforts. 
  • Familiarity with accessibility principles and inclusive practices in program planning. 

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $60,000 -$65,000
