Biology major Lisa Pahomov ’11 and recent graduate Elina Dilmukametova ’09 presented posters describing research done in collaboration with Louise Egerton-Wharburton,  Ph.D. at the Chicago Botanic Garden (CBG).

Pahomov’s poster, “Soil legacies differentially influence native grass establishment in an urban prairie restoration,” was co-authored by Lake Forest environmental studies major Michael Frederick ’11.

Dilmukametova’s poster, “The contribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi to soil carbon pools in restored urban grasslands,” presented the results of work done during an internship at Chicago Botanic Garden. Both students started their work at the Botanic Garden in Professor Lynn Westley’s Plant Biology course.

In addition, Aaron Nash ’10 was co-author on a presentation by University of Illinois-Chicago graduate student Amy Hank, resulting from work he did during an internship at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

Alumnus Charles Flower ’04 presented his work on “Impacts of the emerald ash borer on forest carbon stocks, tree physiology and forest ecosystems.” Flower is currently a Ph.D. candidate at UIC.
