New Gates Center director appointed

Aldo Guzman has been appointed the new assistant dean of students and director of the Gates Center for Leadership and Personal Growth. He will begin on July 15.
“Aldo is a very skilled and thoughtful leader with 12 years of experience in the role of director,” Dean of Students Rob Flot said in an emailed announcement on May 7.
Currently Guzman is the director of student activities and leadership at Columbia College in Chicago, where he has served for the past seven years.
“I believe that Aldo will make an immediate and very positive impact at the College,” Flot said.
Guzman holds an undergraduate degree in Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a graduate degree in Educational Leadership from Northeastern Illinois University. Originally from Mexico, Aldo moved to the U.S. as a young teenager. He now resides with his wife and daughter in Des Plaines.
