Yuka Kawata shares her experience in the Unilever Future Leaders’ League competition (UFLL) in London.

Future Leaders’ League, a global case study competition sponsored by Unilever, was held through April 10thto 12thin London, UK. Unilever Future Leaders’ League is an opportunity where students from all over the world get to present solutions for the real business problems to the top executives at Unilever Headquarters in London.

I was honored to be able to participate in the global finals as one of the 90 global finalists chosen from over 50,000 applications in the world. My UFLL journey began in January 2019, soon after I submitted my application, I was invited to the national round held at Unilever Japan office where I competed against 6 other finalists. Luckily I was given 2ndplace and received the opportunity to fly to London in April with the other two who ranked 1st and 3rd

Being a business major at Lake Forest College helped me in this competition as I had already done so many case analyses and presentations in business classes. Although we did work hard on the case assigned, we were not able to win the global finals. I have participated in a multiple case study/business competitions before, but this was one of the most challenging competitions, and I learned a lot from this experience. UFLL
