Lake Forest experts make the news, again.

Take a look back at some of the newsmakers and experts from Lake Forest College during 2011, including Associate Professor of English Davis Schneiderman, whose essay about fatherhood made the Huff Post.

Schneiderman, who may become a regular blogger for the Huffington Post, is just one of several Lake Forest professors who made their way into the news during 2011. Here are some others:

Professor of Sociology and Director of the Islamic World Studies Program Ahmad Sadri was interviewed on December 7 about the continued issues between Iran and the West, on the nationally syndicated radio show Worldview on WBEZ 91.5 FM . Sadri, an expert on Iran, published a story in Salon and was quoted in the Christian Science Monitor.

Professor of Economics Les Dlabay, author of the country’s most widely used economics textbooks, wrote an article about global economy for the Daily Herald Business Ledger.

A.B. Dick Professor of Economics Robert Baade, a sports economist, co-authored a feature piece about the economic impact of hosting a major sporting event for the summer 2011 issue of Americas Quarterly. Baade was also quoted in an article about the politics of urban sports stadiums in an issue of  The Nation, and made the front page of The Korea Times in a piece about the economics of the Olympic games.

Betty Jane Schultz Hollender Professor of Art, Emeritus, Franz Schulze discussed Ludwig Mies van der Rohe’s Farnsworth House project in the April 23 issue of the Wall Street Journal.

Professor Schneiderman was quoted about the importance of handwriting in a story on CNN.com, and provides tips to college students on WTTW’s  Chicago Tonight.

Gustav E. Beerly Jr. Assistant Professor of English Joshua Corey was interviewed about his new book of poems, Severance Songs, on “Eight Forty-Eight,” a show about Chicago issues and culture on WBEZ 91.5 FM.

Associate Professor of Anthropology Holly Swyers was cited in a page one USA Today story about how educators turned to the Web to keep students on track during snowstorms that shut down schools.
