Billing statements available for 2016-17 school year

July 04, 2016

Fall semester is right around the corner and the billing statement and now available via the my.lakeforest.edu portal. Payment is due August 11, 2016.

Step One: Access your billing statement

Click here to go directly to your statement, or log in to my.lakeforest.edu and select the Student tab, then My Account. Next, choose either Fall Statement or Full-Year Statement from the choices in the upper, right corner of the page.

Parents can also access the billing statement by logging into the my.lakeforest.edu portal* and selecting the Parent tab and then Generate Current Semester Statements.

*IF you do not own a my.lakeforest.edu log-in, ask your student to grant you permission. Information about how to grant access is available on our website at  www.lakeforest.edu/studentaccounts

Your statement also will show anticipated spring charges based on full-time enrollment, which we hope will assist those planning on enrolling in our payment plan. If you will be enrolled in fewer than three semester hours for either the fall or spring semester, please contact us so that we can advise you on how your account will be adjusted.

Step Two:  Complete the health insurance waiver

Enrollment in a health insurance program is required for all students unless an online waiver is completed indicating equal or superior U.S. health insurance coverage.

The Lake Forest College Student Health Insurance Waiver is completely separate from the Health History Report. Waivers must be submitted online only no later than August 11, 2016. Failure to complete the waiver by the deadline will result in automatic enrollment in the Student Health Insurance Plan along with the nonrefundable annual premium.

To waive the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for the 2016-2017 academic/policy year:

  1. Visit: www.gallagherkoster.com/LakeForest
  2. Click on “Student Waive”
  3. Create a user account or Log in (if a returning user)
  4. Select the red “I Want to Waive” button.

When waiving the insurance, have your current health insurance ID card ready as you will need this information in order to complete the waiver form. Once the waiver has been submitted you will receive a confirmation number.

For questions regarding the waiver process, contact Gallagher Koster at 1-800-397-5035 or by email at: lakeforeststudent@gallagherkoster.com

Step Three: Complete the required documentation to receive student or parent loans

Stafford Loans: In order to secure funding for your student loans this year your next step is to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and the Entrance Counseling.

Your tuition account lists your student loan as “anticipated” for this year, but if your MPN and Entrance Counseling are not completed by August 11, the loan will be removed from your tuition account and the Business Office will update your tuition bill to reflect the new outstanding balance.

For more detailed information about the loan process and step-by-step instructions, please go to www.lakeforest.edu/stafford.

The Federal Direct PLUS Loans for Parents (PLUS) is designed with the parent in mind. The parent may borrow the difference between the “cost of attendance” and all the financial aid the student has received.

Parents who wish to borrow the Parent PLUS Loan for the first time must complete the PLUS Loan Request and the PLUS Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) via www.studentloans.gov.

For more detailed information about this loan and the application process, please visitwww.lakeforest.edu/PLUS.

Step Four: Submit payment or enroll in the payment plan by August 11

Outstanding Student Account balances are due 14 days prior to the start of the semester. For the Fall 2016 semester, this date is August 11, 2016. Failure to enroll in the payment plan or submit payment in full by August 11 will result in a $100 late fee.

Families that wish to take advantage of the option to pay over 10 or nine months can enroll in the Forester Payment Plan at www.lakeforest.afford.com or by calling 1-800-356-8329. Lake Forest College has partnered with Tuition Management Systems (TMS) to administer its monthly payment plan.

Please note that you determine the amount entered into the payment plan. The computer systems for Lake Forest College and TMS do not exchange information and we do not automatically adjust payment plans if the budgeted amount is incorrect.

Families that wish to pay each semester in full can do so by mailing a check or money order to Lake Forest College, Attn: Business Office, 555 N. Sheridan Road, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Please include your student’s name and/or ID# with your payment. Payment can also be made online at www.lakeforest.afford.com by selecting the Make a One-Time Payment option in the middle of the page.  Please note, there is a 2.75% convenience fee for credit card transactions.
