“Students returned to campus with a deeper understanding of career options, especially for those interested in global careers within the U.S.,” Career Advancement Center Associate Director Smret Smith said.

Consulate staff sat down with the 10 visiting Foresters to share information about the range opportunities available in different sectors of a consulate, including banking and insurance, energy and environment, imports and exports, automotive, manufacturing, information technology, and film.

“Our goal is to give students an opportunity to visit and job-shadow so they can develop a better understanding of different industries and build partnerships with potential employers,” Smith said. 

The British Consulate-General, located on Chicago’s Michigan Avenue, works to develop and sustain the important and long-standing relationship between the United Kingdom and the U.S. in the Midwest.

The students who visited the British Consulate-General office in Chicago were: John Brown ’16, Arianna Flores ’17, Jeremy Levinson ’18, Laurel Lindberg ’16, Samukelisiwe Ngwenya ’17, Alexandra O’Bryan ’19, Emma Reeser ’18, Katerina Roldan ’17, and Diedre Suri ’16.
