What drew you to Lake Forest College?
I was drawn to Lake Forest College by all of the opportunities that were offered for every student. Nothing was exclusively for just some students. I was also drawn by the wonderful attitudes of everyone on campus. It was a very gloomy and dark day when I visited but everyone was so nice and welcoming!
Have you had experiences here—besides your classes—that have helped prepare you for your future?
I have built some beautiful friendships and connections while being on campus. I have also connected with a lot of faculty as they have helped me in moving forward my two clubs. I am now looking for internships for the future and am receiving great help from the Career Advancement Center!
How are you handling the sudden change and transition to online learning?
The transition to online learning has been a stressful and difficult. However, every professor that I have has made sure to communicate well and help their students with whatever we may need. This has made the process so much easier.
What do you do in your free time (before the COVID-19 pandemic)?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, writing poetry and listening to music. I also enjoy spending time with my roommates and friend where we either play cards or watch Netflix together.
What are your plans after graduation?
After graduating, I hope to pursue grad school to further my education in the psychology field. I hope to be a clinical psychologist.
Any advice for new Foresters?
My advice for future Foresters is to get involved! If you are overwhelmed at first and need time to explore before committing to clubs or other activities then that is okay too! Once you know what you like, focus on that. I also advice to enjoy spending time with friends and remember that time flies!
What has been your favorite memory at Lake Forest College?
My favorite memory at Lake Forest College has to be during my first-year during homecoming weekend when there was live music, a bonfire and a tent that had a popup escape room. It was so fun trying to solve all of the puzzles with my friends. We were eating snacks and just enjoying the music together. Now some of those friends are my roommates and we still talk regularly.
Parting words?
Enjoy your time being a Forester, in the moment it feels like it might last forever but it will go by so fast and it might just be your favorite memories. Take the time to grow and really take advantage of all that Lake Forest College has to offer! Good Luck!
