The team prepares to hit the ice, the first time men's hockey has played outdoors since 1969.

In its first outdoor home game since 1969, men’s hockey defeated visiting Aurora University 6-1 on December 9.

The contest between the only NCAA men’s hockey teams in Illinois was played at the Winter Club in Lake Forest, the Foresters home ice during the 1960s.

Friends and families of the players, alumni, Winter Club members, and local residents lined up along the boards on the east and south sides of the outdoor rink to get a great view of the on-ice action.

The Foresters next contest on Friday, January 8, will mark the 50th anniversary of the men’s hockey team’s first game as a varsity program. That inaugural game was played in 1966 at the Winter Club.
