Obama recognizes College for community service work

Lake Forest College students like giving back to help the community.
December 08, 2014

Lake Forest College students are great at helping others and received the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for the fourth year to prove it.

“These schools are inspiring young leaders to roll up their sleeves and work alongside community members to solve problems,” said Wendy Spencer, CEO of the Corporation for National and Community Service, the organization that has administered the award since 2006.

The President’s Honor Roll is the highest recognition a college or university can receive for student commitment to volunteering, service-learning, and civic engagement. It was inspired by the thousands of college students who traveled across the country to support relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina.

Lake Forest College is among nearly 800 named to the 2014 list.
