New director of grants and sponsored research hired

Edwin Hunt, currently a senior grants manager at the University of California, Santa Barbara, will join the College on July 15 and will be responsible for securing funding for institutional programs and faculty research and for managing grants once they are awarded. Welcome to Lake Forest College, Edwin!

Hunt will be responsible for preparing and submitting proposals for foundations, corporations, government agencies and other sources to secure funding for institutional programs and faculty research.  He will also oversee post-award grants management.

Hunt is currently the Senior Writer and Manager of Grants and Programs Development at the University of California Educational Evaluation Center at the University of California, Santa Barbara.  Before taking up this position, he worked extensively as a grant-writing consultant for the non-profit sector in Southern California. Hunt also has previous experience working for the University of Chicago, where he was responsible for grants research development for the Harris School of Public Policy and the Population Research Center.

Hunt received his bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Miami at Coral Gables, an M.A. in linguistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and an M.P.P. in economic public policy studies from the University of Chicago.

Hunt’s start date is Monday, July 15, and his office will be located on the second floor of North Hall, Rm. 200.
