Drones R Us
Multi-media artist Davis Schneiderman of Lake Forest College, art historian Maggie Taft, and others will talk about—and play with—the many sides of drone technology during Drones R Us, a Chicago Humanities Festival event on Sunday.
Made up of technologies ranging from simple batteries to high tech software, the drone is a complicated machine that has captured our imagination in the 21st century. Both enemy and friend, it conjures up the lethal accuracy of military grade Predators and the quick-silver, toy-like cameras that captures breathtaking aerial shots.
Schneiderman is associate dean of the faculty and director of the Center for Chicago Programs at Lake Forest College. Taft holds a PhD in art history from the University of Chicago.
This event will be held from 11 a.m. to noon on Sunday, November 6 at the Art Institute of Chicago, Rubloff Auditorium, 230 S Columbus Drive in Chicago.
