Chinese Speech Contest
April 23, 2016 – Professor Wu’s Chinese 112 class attended the 2016 US Midwest “Chinese Bridge” Speech Contest hosted by the Chinese Studies Program at DePaul University.
Four students from Professor Wu’s Chinese 112 class participated in the contest: Alexander Balizado, Jessica Grimes, and E Caitlin Brown. Lake Forest College was one of 15 colleges and universities that participated in the contest including Colorado State University, Loyola University, Northwestern University, University of Chicago and more. The contest consists of reciting a 3-minute speech and performing a 3-minutes talent, each of their choice. Alexander and Jessica each received 3rd place for their duet and individual speeches. Cynthia received 2nd place for her Chinese brush painting and speech. Caitlin received 2nd place for her dance and speech. The award ceremony and banquet took place at the MingHin Cuisine in Chicago where judges gave the winners a medal for their achievement.
