Argentine noir cinema subject of a new book
Professor of Spanish David George will publish book on noir cinema in 2015.
Titled Secret Auras: Argentine Noir Cinema and printed by Lexington Press, the book will include an overview of film noir and neo-noir; a history of the development of film noir in Argentina; and a technical, aesthetic, and socio-historical analysis of recent Argentine neo-noir films and their inscription of such classic noirs as “Double Indemnity” and “The Third Man.”
The book concludes with a view toward future scholarly work on other Latin American noir and neo-noir movies, especially those produced in Mexico and Brazil.
George worked on the book with student Sandra Aguilera ’14, a Latin American studies and Spanish double major who published an original piece in the 2012 online edition of Collage Magazine.
