Access to Chicago opens door to host of opportunities, experiences

January 17, 2013

Students have easy access to Chicago for internships, research, fun, and all of the rich resources the city has to offer. The Metra station is a short walk from campus, with 25 trains coming and going each day.

“Chicago is very much integrated into all that we do here,” said Rand Smith, director of the Center for Chicago Programs. “All the way through a student’s career they have the opportunity to experience Chicago and learn from it.”

The Federal Reserve Bank, the Chicago Council on Global Affairs, the Shedd Aquarium, and more have hosted Lake Forest College students for internships.

Professors often bring their students on field trips to the city for class and invite guest speakers from Chicago-based businesses and organizations to visit campus.

Additionally, the College’s strong alumni presence in the city provides career networking and mentor opportunities for students.
