Join us for the first of eight films that comprise the John Waters Film Festival.Notorious Baltimore criminal and underground figure Divine goes up against Connie & Raymond Marble, a sleazy married couple who make a passionate attempt to humiliate her and seize her tabloid-given title as “The Filthiest Person Alive.” This is perhaps the top “gross out” movie of all time. Introduction by Associate Professor of English Davis Schneiderman.

A suburban housewife’s world falls apart when her pornographer husband admits he’s serially unfaithful to her, her daughter gets pregnant, and her son is suspected of being the foot-fetishist who’s been breaking local women’s feet. The original theatrical release included “Odorama”—scratch ‘n’ sniff cards for the audience. Introduction by Liz Benacka, a lecturer at the College who is teaching the course John Waters and American Culture.

Part of the John Waters film festival, this movie is about a Baltimore sandwich shop employee who becomes an overnight sensation in the art world. Introduction by Liz Benacka, lecturer in the Department of Communication, who is teaching the course John Waters and American Culture.

Part of the John Waters film fest, this movie is about an insane independent film director and his renegade group of teen filmmakers who kidnap a Hollywood actress and force her to star in their underground film. Introduction by students in the communication course John Waters and American Culture.

Part of the John Waters film fest, this remake of the 1988 cult classic Hairspray is about a pleasantly plump girl teenager who teaches 1962 Baltimore a thing or two about integration after landing a spot on a local TV dance show. It will be introduced by a student in the communication course John Waters and American Culture.

McCormick Auditorium Watch “The Alumni Chapter,” a film by Matthew Helderman ‘11 that recently premiered at The Portage Theater in Chicago. The film is for anyone who ever had a hard time landing a job or figuring out what to do after college, or had to face that difficult, but sometimes necessary evil of leaving loved ones behind to forage a new life on their own.
