Lake Forest is one of a very few selective colleges offering a major in business located near one of
the leading financial and corporate centers in the world—Chicago. A business major or minor at Lake Forest College provides students with a practical choice employing fundamental accounting and finance tools that can be applied to virtually any industry or to start their own business.
Business is a highly practical area of study focusing on established theories applied to real-life applications with an eye on the increasingly global and technologically sophisticated business world. Business majors will be able to demonstrate the fundamentals of accounting, marketing and finance. The goal of the program at Lake Forest College is to master fundamental skills, encourage collaboration, and develop self-awareness leading to successful business leadership. A minor is also offered to compliment any major on campus providing a distinguishing attribute to potential employers.
Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program Patricia “Trish” Thomas was named Illinois Entrepreneurship Professor of the Year by Future Founders at the 2nd Annual EntrepreneurshipU Awards on April 20 at the Chicago Connectory in the Merchandise Mart.
Students visited Morningstar, Goldman Sachs, and Citigroup in Chicago during the College’s first-ever Finance Industry Day. Led by College alumni and trustees, students got a behind-the-scenes look at each company—as well as some face time with industry experts.
Producers Sally Lapiduss ’77 and Chrisann Verges ’78 brought Hollywood to campus during an information session on careers in Hollywood hosted by the Career Advancement Center and the theater department.
Kayla Choun is a Community Economic Development officer in the United States Peace Corps serving in Ouassa-Pehunco, Atakora, Benin (West Africa). In 2016, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Lake Forest College with degrees in economics and politics.
