Residence Life

New Student Information

Living on campus is a wonderful way for new students to get connected at Lake Forest College.

Housing Application for 2019-2020: Available Mid May.

The housing application for fall semester will be available Mid May. Students will receive an email when the application is launched.

Instructions for completing the housing are available online (PDF), as are the instructions for requesting a roommate (PDF). You can also view a video tutorial below:

Learn about housing costs and fees here.

Housing assignments are made on a first-come, first-served basis based on the date your deposit was received.  We do our best to honor mutual roommate preferences and accessibility requests when assigning residence halls and roommates.

Residency Requirement

The College has a residency requirement for most first, second, and third-year students. This means that most first, second, and third-year students are required to live in campus housing.

Students may apply for an exemption from the three-year residency requirement if they meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Live at home with parent/guardian within 30 road miles of the College;
  • Age 23 or older;
  • Have dependent children;
  • Are married;
  • Active members of the armed forces; or,
  • Have completed 24 Lake Forest College credits or more (not including AP or IB credits).
Important Dates

Occupancy of an assigned room is limited to the fall and spring academic terms, commencing and ending with dates published in the Student Handbook.

Move-in for new students is on Friday, August 23, 2019 beginning at 9:00 a.m. Please proceed directly to your residence hall when you arrive on campus. Volunteers will greet you and direct you where to park, help you unload and move your belongings, and show you to your new room!

Please make travel and lodging arrangements accordingly. Early arrivals are not possible.

Amenities and Services Partnerships

We partner with several outside companies to provide additional resources for resident students. The ones listed below allow you to begin outfitting your room before you even move in!

Residence Hall Linen Program
On Campus Marketing, Inc. (OCM) has been bringing quality services and products to college campuses, student and parents for over a decade.

We are confident the items you find here will fit well and hold up to the rigors of college life. If at any time from the first day of school until graduation you are not satisfied, you can return any item for a full refund of the price of the item.

Refrigerator and Microfridge Rental
Bedloft.com by Collegiate Marketing provides microfridge and refrigerator rentals for Lake Forest College students. Individual microwave units are not permitted in any resident room. All residence halls have at least one communal microwave available for resident use.
