Forester Day of Service

Each year, the Gates Center for Leadership and Personal Growth organizes a campus-wide day of service where Lake Forest College students, faculty, staff, and alumni volunteer their Saturday to help out the community.

This year, the Forester Day of Service will be Saturday, April 11, 2015. We are again partnering with North Chicago Community Partners to volunteer in the North Chicago schools.

This year’s theme is One Student, One School, One Community. The theme is an extension of Lake Forest College’s participation in Enough is Enough Week, a national program that’s mission is to “encourage and support campuses and communities to work together in developing comprehensive, intentional, and systematic violence prevention initiatives.”

Lake Forest College volunteers will be paired with a North Chicago school student for a day of enrichment activities. The activities are designed to unite students of different ages from very diverse communities for a day of learning, sharing and relationship building. All students will participate in a variety of hand-ion activities centered on the themes of promoting peace and reducing violence, one student, one school, one community at a time.

Volunteer registration will open on March 16.
