Assistant Professor of Innovation
Mike Lippitz defines problems and devises creative solutions in organizational innovation and Technology management, with deep experience in Corporate Entrepreneurship and Defense Acquisition. His analyses and frameworks help executives clarify objectives, create superior options, coordinate across boundaries and make strategic decisions in the face of complexity and risk. Recent clients include the US Department of Defense, Exelon Corporation, ITW, Kraft Foods and Boeing. His book with Robert C. Wolcott—Grow from Within: Mastering Corporate Entrepreneurship and Innovation—sets out strategic options for companies seeking to create and grow new businesses on an ongoing basis.
Mike is a Senior Principal with Clareo LLC and a Senior Policy Analyst with the Institute for Defense Analyses. He’s served as a board officer of several non-profit and volunteer organizations, where he excels in creating novel financial analyses that clarify organizational strengths and weaknesses. For instance, he helped devise new membership and development approaches for one organization that increased membership 20% in one year and delivered 200% of targeted fundraising results to close a large projected budget deficit.
Mike received a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Magna Cum Laude, from Brown University, and a Ph.D. in Management Science and Engineering from Stanford University, under former US Secretary of Defense William J. Perry.
