How did you choose your area of study?
When I applied to Lake Forest College, I was admitted as a biology major. After taking my first biology class, I knew it just wasn’t for me. Luckily, I happened to be taking an introductory neuroscience course, Medical Mysteries of the Mind, that same semester as well. The content excited me and left me wanting more. As a freshman, we learned that the brain can chemically change itself based on experience, which still baffles me as a senior. Studying neuroscience lets you look at the world with a different perspective, one that provides you with respect and an understanding for the delicate balance between the mind and nature. I feel the knowledge I have gained from Lake Forest College will serve me well in my future. After graduation, I plan to attend medical school and continue exploring neuroscience.
