Entrepreneurship and Innovation

A.B. Dick Lecture by Howard Tullman

During this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week, Lake Forest College had the honor of hosting Howard Tullman, serial entrepreneur and former CEO of 1871, as the 2018 A.B. Dick Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The well-attended A.B. Dick Lecture featured Howard Tullman’s fascinating and thought-provoking talk on entrepreneurial urgency: If You’re Not in a Hurry, You’re Too Late. Tullman focused on the fast-paced nature of our commercial markets and how we ought to adapt to these ever changing trends before it’s too late. Tullman’s enlightening lecture challenged the audience to rethink how we consume media and its impact on our purchasing behavior. A key takeaway from Howard Tullman’s talk is that the world is changing right before our eyes, in order to stay abreast of these changes, we need to adapt or face grave consequences.

Prior to the lecture, the Entrepreneurship and Innovation program organized a reception where faculty, students, alumni, family, friends, as well as Chicagoland entrepreneurs celebrated entrepreneurship, innovation and community. A special thank you to John Durning and Lisa Gregor who donated refreshments from their respective entrepreneurial ventures, Pizza DeVille and Church Street Brewing Company.

Made possible by the generosity of the A.B. Dick Foundation, the 33rd annual A.B. Dick Lecture and reception provides the Lake Forest College community with an opportunity to hear from a variety of entrepreneurial thought leaders, innovators, and titans.
