Study Abroad and Domestic Study Away
Notes from Abroad: Aleksandra in France
Aleksandra Oluic ’20, a Business major and Entrepreneurship and Innovation minor, is studying at the University d’Angers in Angers France.
Living in France was always a dream of mine, and thanks to this opportunity it came true! I was placed in a city called Angers. The city has a chateau overlooking the entire area and beautiful architecture. I have never eaten better fruit tarts and croissants! University of Angers is one of the best universities in France and they are very involved in my area of study- business. I have taken part in the international week where students from all over the world come together to work on a business project. It is so interesting to hear other people talk about their ideas and then work together to create something great. To my surprise, I like the atmosphere and way of learning here more than in the U.S. Classes are not every day, there is no homework, and the time you spend in lectures is the only time you spend on the material. In addition, some of the topics I am learning here are very similar to those! back home in Chicago (like Entrepreneurship concepts). Being around French people made me appreciate a different style of life and culture. I met a lot of French friends, as well as Irish, British, and Italian. I might even come back semi-fluent in French!
Special thanks to the Ingrid H. and George L. Speros Scholarship for Study Abroad, an amazing award that allowed me to have this experience!
