Felkey receives prize for article
Associate Professor of Economics, Business and Finance Amanda J. Felkey received the “Michael Szenberg Prize for the Best Article Published” in The American Economist during the 2018 calendar year.
Her article entitled, “Do Restrictions Beget Responsibility? The Case of U.S. Abortion Legislation” was selected based on the following criteria: it fills a void in the existing literature, addresses an important topic with critical policy or theoretical implications, is well written, employs sound methodological tools of analysis, demonstrates the importance of economic reasoning, and serves as a model for Omicron Delta Epsilon student members. Dr. Felkey will receive a commemorative plaque at the annual ASSA meeting in January.
This is Felkey’s third best paper prize. She has previously been honored for her papers “Will you Covenant Marry me? An empirical look at a New Type of Marriage” (in 2006) and “Husbands, Wives and the Peculiar Economics of Household Public Goods and Bads” (in 2014).
