New Spaces and Faces
Lillard Science Center
This fall the completed Lillard Science Center opened for classes. The expanded and renovated space brings all of the sciences under one roof, creating a space for cross-disciplinary learning and research. The Center for Academic Success
Officially open this fall in the lower level of Hotchkiss Hall, The Center for Academic Success is now home to academic support personnel, disability services, the Writing Center, and Quantitative Resource Center. Overseen by Associate Dean of the Faculty for Student Success Dawn Abt-Perkins, their mission is to help students commit to their intellectual and personal growth through maximizing their learning opportunities resulting in on-time graduation and future success.
This summer we welcomed Andrea Conner, as Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students. Andrea comes from Grinnell College, where she served as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Before joining Grinnell in 2009, she served for eight years in increasingly responsible student affairs positions at Macalester College, Knox College, and Bard College. An Iowa native, Andrea is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Coe College and also holds a master’s in education degree from Iowa State University.
We also welcomed Sean Riedel, as Chief Information Officer. Sean comes to the College from Ingeniux Corporation, a leading web content management and delivery company, where he served most recently as Vice President of Operations. Before that, Sean was at Knox College for 15 years, where he served in several capacities, including as Associate Vice President. A Midwest native, Sean holds a bachelor of music education degree from St. Ambrose University and a master of science in instructional technology and telecommunications from Western Illinois University.
